Physicians Integrated Medical Group was founded in 1995 by a respected group of San Francisco physicians to provide health care to patients of the San Francisco Health Plan. In 1999, the board of directors recruited James Rodriguez, a recognized Bay Area health care executive, as CEO to build an infrastructure for accommodating HMO, PPO and Medicare services.

Our first medical group contracts began in September of 1999 with Health Net and PacifiCare. The following year, we completed agreements with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. By early autumn of 2000, we were fully prepared to assume delegation of all existing health plan contracts in the region. Since our inception, we have grown into a network of more than 500 health care professionals throughout San Francisco and San Mateo counties.
